The Good Rock Foundation
JacquichildOct2014webJaqui Shurr founded Good Rock in 1997 after the adoption of her daughter Abigail. Since then her family have stood by her as she has made numerous visits to China, establishing projects and being an integral part of building the team.
In July 2004 Jacqui, her husband Jeff and their three children, Jonathan , David and Abigail made a giant leap of faith in order to further the success of what Good Rock can do for China's children. The whole family moved to Hong Kong to establish a branch office for Good Rock and also to be in close proximity to mainland China.
Jacqui said at the time: "This is both an exciting and challenging opportunity for us all. The children have mixed feelings about the life they are leaving behind and the adventures ahead. However, we know this is the right time for us and for Good Rock."
The next six years were a wonderful, though challenging, time for the family and much good was achieved. Then, during 2010, the family made the difficult decision to relocate back to the UK. The work of Good Rock continues to grow in spite of many challenges. Jeff, as a chiropractor, occasionally commutes back to Hong Kong to work there while spending most of his time working at his practice in Bamber Bridge.
Jacqui oversees the work in China once again from the UK, and makes regular trips back to China. Good Rock continues to work tirelessly for disadvantaged Chinese children through the support of many volunteers and donors.
